WhatsApp text status returning to Android next week
WhatsApp has added many features to its messaging platform, since its inception, and every new feature received positive feedback from the user. However, the latest Snapchat-like Status feature that replaced the traditional WhatsApp text status, faced backlash from users, and many requested to bring it back.
The text status feature will be integrated into the 'About' section in profile settings. Once you have set the status message, others can view it either by opening a contact entry when starting a chat thread or looking at group chat info.
However, WhatsApp will not ditch the Snapchat like status feature it introduced last month, and it will continue to exist in the app. WhatsApp stories lets you post photos, GIFs and videos as status that will disappear after 24 hours.
