DxOMark just announced that the iPhone 8 Plus just received the highest marks in their tests to date. That got us thinking. Which smartphones are in their top 10?

Apple iPhone 6 |
9. Apple iPhone 6 - With the score of 73, the Apple iPhone 6 made it to the ninth spot. It is only the first entry for Apple here. It has a 1/3 inch 8 MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. It features PDAF and a dual LED flash. It can record 1080p videos at 60 fps as well as slow motion footage at 720p at 240 fps.

8. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge - The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge comes in with a score of 82. It has a 1/2.6 inch 16 MP BSI CMOS sensor with a 28 mm-equivalent f/1.9 aperture lens. Optical Image Stabilization is present that allows for great looking video recordings. It can record 4K, 2160p videos at 30 fps and 1080p at 60 fps. It also has single LED flash as well.

7. Sony Xperia XZ Premium - The Xperia XZ Premium comes in with a score of 83. This is the first Sony Smartphone that went through DxOMark's new test protocol. It has a 1/2.3 inch stacked 19 MP BSI CMOS sensors with f/2.4 aperture lens. It is capable of 4K recordings and a super slow motion recording at 960fps. It also has ISO up to 12K for photo and 4K for video.

6. Apple iPhone 7 - The second entry of Apple in this list, the iPhone 7 git a score of 85. A 1/3 inch 12 MP image sensor with a f/1.8 aperture lens helped it achieve that score. It also has a 28 mm focal length, PDAF, OIS and a dual tone quad LED flash.

5. Apple iPhone 7 Plus - The iPhone 7 Plus edges out its little brother with a score of 88. The advantage comes in, you guessed it, the dual camera setup. It has a 12 MP 1/3 inch primary image sensor with f/1.8 aperture. 28 mm focal length and OIS. The secondary camera has a 12 MP 1/3.6 inch sensor with f/2.8 aperture and 56 mm focal length. It has excellent exposure and dynamic range due to the dual cameras it has.

3. Google Pixel - The Pixel is actually sharing the third spot with the HTC U11 with the score of 90 as well. It has a 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor with 1.55µm pixels. The lens has f/2.0 aperture. It has PDAF with laser assistance, dual tone LED flash, 4K video recording at 30 fps and a gyroscope-based video stabilization.

2. Apple iPhone 8 - The third Apple product in this list, the iPhone 8 scored a whopping 92 points. It has a 12 MP wide angle BSI sensor with an f/1.8 aperture lens. It also has OIS, Focus Pixels tech for AF, Quad-LED true tone flash with Slow sync and Auto-HDR. It also has face and body detection as well as great color capture capabilities.

1. Apple iPhone 8 Plus - This is the current king of DxOMark tests. The iPhone 8 Plus scored a record setting 94 points. It has a dual camera with a 12 MP wide angle BSI sensor with f/1.8 lens + 12 MP telephoto lens with f/2.8 lens. The telephoto lens open up more features for 8 Plus like 10x Optical Zoom, Portrait Mode, and Portrait Lighting. The rest of the features is the retained from the iPhone 8 as well.
Note: Other handsets were not included yet. DxOMark could be testing them using w/ their new protocols.
