Apple HomeKit Products Available for Shipping to Customers
Apple fans should be pleased to discover that Apple HomeKit products have just become available for shipping to all customers who plan on purchasing this product.
Insteon, Lutron, iHome, Elgato and Ecobee, have all announced that their HomeKit products have started to be available for purchases.
The announcement was made before Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference. Maybe, the timing has a purpose, as the HomeKit, which is Apple's home automation platform, was first introduced at the 2014 Worldwide Developers Conference.
The HomeKit actually provides a standardized framework for manufacturers who develop home automation process, allowing them to connect with Apple devices.
So, this means that with the use of HomeKit, devices such as speakers, thermostats, but smart plugs, and many other, can actually be controlled by Siri.
Of course, for the user it can turn out being quite comfortable to just say "Siri turn off my lights." Still, even though HomeKit was first revealed about a year ago, it took a lot of time for companies to gain Apple certification and have their products ready for shipping.
Moreover, not all companies who showed interest in Siri were finally able to release some products. For instance, companies like iDevices or Schlage have not released anything, at least for now.
So, the first companies who announced HomeKit-compatible products were Insteon, Lutron, iHome, Elgato and Ecobee. Lutron, for instance introduced the Caseta Wireless Smart Bridge.
"The Caséta Wireless Smart Bridge with HomeKit support allows homeowners to control lights in specific rooms or areas. For example, just before bed, tell Siri "turn the lights off" and the Caséta Wireless Smart Bridge will turn off lights throughout the house.
Unsure if the basement light is still on?
Ask Siri to check and if so, turn it off," the company said.
On the other hand, Ecobee and Insteon announced a Home-Kit compatible smart thermostat, offering users the possibility to control some useful devices.
Well, it is yet to see which products will be added to this and how customers will receive them on the market.

We’re excited to be shipping our HomeKit-enabled Insteon Hub and releasing the Insteon+ mobile app, enabling the mass consumer market to live in a world where all of their connected devices work together in perfect harmony," Joe Dada, Insteon's CEO said.
HomeKit streamlines home automation for consumers, brings together multiple manufacturers and offers advanced features like remote control and voice control through integrations with Siri.
