GoodPlayer, which is available from Amazon Underground, doesn't get the best reviews on any Android store. In fact, most users prefer MX Player, which unfortunately doesn't support ISOs. GoodPlayer actually rendered ISO movies somewhat more reliably on the Fire HD 8 than VLC for Fire.

There are some artifacts during the movie, but tolerable considering that DVD quality can never match today's 1080p high-resolution movies available via streaming or online purchase. GoodPlayer, like VLC for FireOS, had trouble with accessing special features, but most users would probably get used to navigating across content in the ISO.



Unlike VLC, the touch screen controls on the DVD menu won't work on GoodPlayer, but navigating across chapters and titles on the ISO DVD are generally reliable.

Like VLC for Fire, playback for DVD movies in ISO format may improve by switching from software decoding to hardware.

To enable or disable Hardware Decoder on GoodPlayer:

1. Tap the menu button > Settings.

2. Under Performance, enable or disable Hardware Decoder.

You can also switch between the Hardware Decoder or Software Decoder by tapping HW or SW on the player user interface during playback.
