Lenovo Ideapad 110S Review: The perfect budget laptop
Our review will reveal that there is nothing better than a budget laptop. Lenovo Ideapad 110S is recommended to people who are in search for an all-day device to complete their usual tasks: checking social media accounts, reading or sending emails, and browsing on the Internet.
However, customers should also know that when buying a budget laptop they will also be making some compromises. People who are going for a Chromebook should know that they have to get along without Windows.
Those who are opting for a Windows laptop, should know that they have to cut a lot of corners in purpose to have such a cheap laptop.
In this review we are talking about the new Lenovo Ideapad 110S. This laptop is available at the price of 199 dollars, which is a very affordable price for everyone. This new laptop runs Microsoft’s traditional OS, but it feels and performs very cheap.
However, people who can live with a laptop that doesn’t perform at high standards, should know that the new Lenovo Ideapad 110S is an acceptable second system for home or travel. This laptop is also an incredible device for kids, but don’t expect much more.
Moving to the design, we must say that the new Lenovo Ideapad 110S is designed with portability in mind. This laptop measures 0.7 x 11.5 x 8 inches and weighs approximately 2.43 pounds.
Furthermore, this laptop comes with a matte white plastic chassis, accompanied only by a dull silver Lenovo logo situated in the upper-left corner of the lid.
At first sight, we must say that this laptop looks like a toy, or like a laptop that was designed for a mid-1970s sci-fi video.
The white color extends to every corner of the laptop, from the keyboard deck and even the keys themselves, to the thick bezel that covers the 11.6-inch display. However, the keyboard is not bad at all, but as we know, Lenovo is highly-known for its amazing keyboards.
Unfortunately, it lacks a bit of travel from its usual designs, because it flexes heavily in the middle. But, the keys move well and have a decent size. As for the touchpad, it is very tiny, but it feels good and the buttons are responsive and clicky.
Moving to the display, the screen measures 11.6-inches and features a 1.366 x 768-resolution. The screen offers limited real estate, which is not so great for playing videos.
However, when paying a 199 dollars price, customers should not have high hopes. This means that they will have difficulty reading text or Windows interface elements.
As for the speakers, they are predictably weak, offering little bass and not getting good sound at max volume. In the end, we must say that people will not get next-generation ports, just one HDMI, one USB 3.0, and a microSD card reader, accompanied with the power jack situated on the left.
There are also two USB 2.0 ports added to the right, along with a headset jack. Under the hood, people will find a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N3060 processor, accompanied by 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of flash storage.
However, customers should also know that when buying a budget laptop they will also be making some compromises. People who are going for a Chromebook should know that they have to get along without Windows.
Those who are opting for a Windows laptop, should know that they have to cut a lot of corners in purpose to have such a cheap laptop.
