What’s New with OS X El Capitan?
Apple has announced at its annual developers' conference WWDC a new version of OS X, known as El Capitan.
Even if there are no visual tweaks on this new version of OS X, which bumps the version up to 10.11, Apple has added a host of other tweaks, from new features like Split View to subtle performance enhancements.
During their already famous conference, Apple’s SVP for Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, declared that the new El Capitan has been added as an update, essentially being a refinement of last year’s OS X Yosemite.
However, this version comes with improvements to built-in apps, windows management and Spotlight Search. Craig Federichi also declared that more than 55 percent of Mac users run the latest version of OS X. This is considered to be fastest adoption rate ever for PCs.
OS X El Capitan is available in a developer beta, while the public beta will be released in July.
Before this new OS X El Capitan will be released, let’s take a look at some of its new features.
It seems that Apple has introduced one of the most interesting and useful features to OS X El Capitan. This feature is called Split View.
This new feature will allow users to fill the screen with two apps of their choice. Another interesting feature is Mission Control, which after using a four-finger upward swipe on the trackpad, will allow users to open all the apps at once.
A minor feature, but also very important, is that this new version of OS X will allow users to shake their finger back and forth on the trackpad to make the cursor bigger, so they can easily spot it when it gets lost.
The tech company claimed that after these improvements, apps launch about 1.4 times quicker in general.
