Build Quality / Design

Both are well built devices

The OPPO F3 has the more traditional iPhone inspired design with thinner aluminum material. It has Gorilla Glass 5 protection against scratches too.

The OPPO F3 and Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro are well built devices.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro has a more modern look with sexier U type antenna band design and very slim screen bezels. It also has sturdier looking unibody metal construction and an unverified version of Gorilla Glass protection against scratches.

Display Quality

5.5 inch with full HD resolution for both phones

Both devices comes with a 5.5 inch full HD panel with 2.5D curved glass. The OPPO F3 is using an IPS screen with good color balance.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro boasts one of the most premium display for the price. It is equipped with Super AMOLED panel with punchier colors and deeper blacks.

Audio Quality

For the speakers, both phones are loaded with a single speaker setup. The difference in quality and loudness is not that evident. Will slightly lean towards the OPPO F3 as it has a tad more detail and loudness.

Both has very clean sounding headphone audio output. Samsung's Galaxy J7 Pro just has a slightly warmer output with more bass emphasis.

The difference in mic performance is minimal as well. Both can perform well for phone calls. Just don't expect too much when it comes to audio recording.

Battery Life

The OPPO F3 boasts a bigger 3,200 mAh of battery that's bigger compared with its predecessor. It can last for around 11 hours on a single charge.

Galaxy J7 Pro's battery life is longer

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro has an even bigger 3,600 mAh of battery with up to 13 hours of straight usage.

The OPPO F3 has a charging time of 2 hours while the Galaxy J7 Pro is at 2.5 hours.

Camera

Both are capable shooters for the price

For the main camera both devices highlights a 13 MP sensor. Both has the ability to take great point and shoot photos in daylight with enough clarity, detail, and colors.

The difference? In lowlight. The Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro has a brighter and wider f/1.7 aperture size which is way better than F3's f/2.2 aperture. It even has a dedicated "night mode" to further enhance night photography even without flash.

As a result, the Galaxy J7 Pro is ahead of OPPO F3 in lowlight shooting.

Selfie Camera

For selfies, the OPPO F3 is dubbed as the selfie expert for a reason. It has a 16 + 8 MP dual front camera setup, advanced beautification features, bokeh mode and can shoot in very wide angle for groufies.

On the other hand, the 13 MP selfie shooter of Samsung is no slough. It can also produce plenty of details and colors. It even has a brighter and wider f/1.9 aperture lens and softlight flash for better selfies in lowlight.

Moreover, it also has a panoramic feature in front for groufies as well.

Performance

Antutu benchmark scores

The difference performance between the two phones are minimal. Both devices are speedy enough for lag-free basic phone usage, social media, and light to moderate gaming.

Geekbench scores

The OPPO F3 has better Mali T860 GPU for gaming, bigger 4 GB RAM and beefier 64 GB base storage.

On the other hand, the Galaxy J7 Pro has a slightly higher-clocked octa core processor and bigger up to 256 GB expandable storage.

On the OS part, the OPPO F3 is still running on ageing Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with the heavily customized Color OS skin.

Compared with OPPO F3, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro boasts the newer Android 7.0 Nougat OS with revamped TouchWiz UI for nicer looking icons, faster transitions, better optimizations and more secured operation.

Both are also equipped with LTE, advanced GPS, dual SIM slots, and accurate fingerprint scanners.

Verdict

For the price of PHP 15,990, the OPPO F3 and Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro are pretty great midrange offerings. Both has their advantages over each other.

The OPPO F3 has tougher Gorilla Glass 5 protection, better GPU for gaming, more RAM, bigger base storage and dual selfie camera.

On the other hand  Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro has the tougher and more premium overall build and design, Super AMOLED screen with better colors, higher CPU clock speed, bigger expendable storage, longer battery performance, newer and more efficient operating system and better cameras for lowlight shooting.

If you are the type of person who's into selfies and groufies, go for OPPO F3.

But, if you need a more premium looking device with great lowlight photography cameras, long battery life and newest Android operating system, go for Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro.
