Huawei has released the new MateBook X
Huawei is coming with a new laptop on the market. This new device features a fanless design and homes a sharp 2K display with ultra-slim bezels.
With the new MateBook X, Huawei has decided to opt for a more design-centric approach. With this new look, the company is hopping that its device will manage to stand out from the crowd.
We think that Huawei managed to touch its goal. Why? Because, this new device is an ultraportable, fanless 13-inch laptop.
Moreover, the new Huawei MateBook X has an incredible thin body and packs a lot of power under its chassis. The company declared that this new device will be released this summer, but the date will remain a secret.
However, analysts and tech journalists had the chance to see this new beauty at a press event held in New York.
When we say that the new Huawei MateBook X is very thin, we don’t exaggerate at all. This new device measures 0.5 inches thick, which is incredibly thin for a laptop.
Moreover, it measures 8.2 inches deep and 11.24 inches wide. So, without a doubt that the new Huawei MateBook X is the thinnest 13-inch notebook on the market.
To be added that this device weighs approximately 2.3 pounds, which means that it was built with portability in mind.
However, customers should know that despite achieving this incredible size, the new Huawei MateBook X doesn’t feel cheap at all.
The new Huawei MateBook X comes with a solid construction. Its body is entirely made out of aluminum, which it’s a great choice, rather than cheap plastic.
As we mentioned earlier, the new Huawei MateBook X comes with a screen that has a 2K resolution (2.160 x 1.440-pixels).
We must say that its display is good quality, featuring a sharp and bright picture. Moreover, the screen is surrounded by thin bezels, measuring just 4.4mm. This move really maximizes screen space.
Unfortunately, there is no touch screen option. The company has declared that it took this decision in order to achieve the form factor. Achieving such a small size, we must say that the company also had to make some compromises.
Here, we are talking about connectivity. The new Huawei MateBook X comes with USB-C ports only. One is situated on the left and it is used for data transfer and charging. The second port is situated on the right and it can be used for dock connection and data transfer.
But, the good thing is that the company added inside the box a MateBook Dock 2. This dock comes with USB, HDMI, and USB-C connection. Under the hood, customers will receive either a Core i5 or a Core i7-7500U processor.
Moreover, these chips will be accompanied by either 4GB or 8GB of memory and 512 GB of SSD storage. The company claims that the battery life will go up to 10 hours, which is a decent number.
Moreover, the new Huawei MateBook X comes with some useful features, for example a front-facing 1MP camera, Bluetooth 4.1 and 802.11ac dual-band wireless.
