Office updates for Microsoft apps on devices (April)
In light of the discovery of vulnerabilities in Office, Microsoft released several huge updates for macOS, Windows 10, and Windows 10 Mobile versions of Office applications. If you’re running a Mac or a Surface device or Windows Phone, the software packages are pretty large, and you may need to manually trigger the update depending on the device you are using.
For macOS Office users, the Microsoft AutoUpdate desktop utility should launch automatically. Updates are also available if you’re still running Microsoft Lync for Mac 14.4.1.
Windows 10 Mobile devices such as the Lumia 650, which come with a custom version of OneNote, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, users will have to update manually by going to Settings > Update & Security > Phone Update. Note that running updates through the Microsoft Store app for Windows 10 Mobile won’t initiate the system update.
If you have Office apps installed on either Android or iOS, you can update them as usual using Google Play Store or Apple Apps Store respectively. For Amazon Kindle Fire owners, updates can be performed for any installed Microsoft apps by going to the Apps screen, tapping See all your apps, and then going to the App Updates tab.
