Garmin unveils $139 vivosmart 3 activity tracker
Garmin has announced its latest activity tracker called vivosmart 3 with an ultra-slim design and a hidden OLED display, that's only on when you need it. The hidden display is visible when activated via gestures, alerts or notifications, and when not in use the screen disappears.
The wearable comes with high-end fitness monitoring tools such as VO2 max and fitness age, and wellness monitoring with all-day stress tracking. It also include a new Strength Training activity that keeps track of reps, sets and even rest times during user’s free weight and body-weight exercises.
VO2 max is a measurable indication of aerobic performance. vivosmart 3 will translate the wearers VO2 max score into a fitness level, ranging from poor to superior. VO2 max is also used to calculate fitness age which displays fitness level of the wearer in terms of an age. Through hard work and exercise, users can increase their VO2 max and reduce their fitness age. Wellness monitoring with all-day stress tracking will track the users heart rate variability, which in turn is used to calculate and measure stress level. The stress level displayed as a wedge graph right on the device. In case the stress level is high, the activity tracker also features a breathing exercise to encourage relaxation and help lower stress level.
It boasts battery life of up to five days and is waterproof, so you can wear it while swimming. It automatically syncs with the Garmin Connect mobile app throughout the day and save stats for easy access later.
