Omatek Computer Founder, Mrs. Florence Seriki — ‘Mama Computer’ is Dead.
The founder of Omatek Computers, Mrs. Florence Seriki has died at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) after battling with cancer.
Late Mrs. Florence Seriki was the founder of Omatek Computers which is the first factory to locally assemble Computer systems, Notebooks and Computer accessories like Computer cases, Keyboards, Speakers and Mouse in the whole of Africa.
Mrs. Florence studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Ife, Ile-Ife and started computer trading as a vendor over 22 years ago, before she finally built a local computer assembling plant in Lagos which she named Omatek Computers Limited. In order to raise money for the computer assembling business, She listed her company on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in 2008 ––she was also the only technology company listed on NSE as at that time.
According to one of the sympathizers: “Florence shouldered a rare and inspiring womanhood stepping up to motivate and lift the spirits of many a teenager and adult fan of her Omatek computer and computer accessories. “In death, she looms even larger in stature and immensity to the human cause, which makes her unforgettable to her friends, business associates, and family.
