JBL Cinema SB 450 Soundbar Review: 4K ultra-HD revolution

JBL is one of the most successful companies when it comes to speakers. During the years, this company managed to build some of the most successful Bluetooth speakers on the market.

However, we must say that JBL also has a history of making sound bars with an incredible musical refinement.

These days, the company released the new Cinema SB 450. This new sound bar will definitely not disappoint customers, offering an incredible sound, thanks to its booming subwoofer that sounds enormous.

Beyond the huge subwoofer, this new system also adds a couple of features missing from previous sound bar models.

The most significant presence is given by the four HDMI ports that will pass 4K signals. But, this is not all, because the new JBL Cinema SB 450 will also enable Bluetooth restreaming to other JBL devices, which is a great feature.

The new JBL Cinema SB 450 is available at the price of 500 dollars, which is a decent price. But, we must say that there are many other competitors at the price range that offer better overall performance and features.

Here, we are talking about the LG Sh7B and the Vizio SB4551-D5. Moving to the design, we must say that this new system might not seem all that different compared to many other sound bars on the market. But, this illusion will probably change when people will take notice of its 8-inch, 200 watt wireless subwoofer.

We must say that at 13 inches square, JBL’s subwoofer is a real animal, and it is considered to be one of the biggest that customers have seen in a midprice sound bar system.

To be added that the sound bar that accompanies this incredible sub looks approximately the same as at the previous SB350. It measures 44 inches wide and it is covered in a fine steel mesh. This mesh covers an undisclosed number of 2.25-inch transducers inside.

Moreover, at the top of the sound bar, customers will find the controls, while at the bottom there is an adjustable feet.

Moving forward, we also must say that the new JBL Cinema SB 450 comes with a credit-card-style clicker. This remote is way too complex and packed with small buttons. The buttons are way too small, which will probably be uncomfortable for many users.

That is why, the best solution for them is to program their TV or cable box remote for volume or to buy a universal remote.

Moving to the features, we must say that the new JBL Cinema SB 450 is not the perfect sound bar system.

Unfortunately, it lacks some important features, which is a huge minus for JBL. But, we also must say that compared with the previous model, JBL has doubled to four HDMI ports, three of which are 2.0a/HDCP 2.2 compliant.

This means that people will be able to watch 4K HDR movies on this new system. Other connections that people will find on the new JBL Cinema SB 450 are optical, USB for firmware updates, and 3.5mm auxiliary.

To be added that this sound bar also includes Bluetooth connectivity and a feature the company calls JBL connect.
