Google and Levi's smart jacket hits stores this fall for $350


Google at its I/0 event last year, showcased the Commuter Trucker Jacket, which was a product of Levi and Google's ATAP (Advanced Technology and Projects) partnership. It was expected to go on sale in Spring 2017 (March, April, May, June), but now the release has been delayed. We also now know the price.

At SXSW 2017, Google and Levi announced that the Commuter Trucker Jacket will sell for $350 (Rs. 23,290, when it goes on sale this fall (September, October, November, December).

The jacket is designed to meet needs of cyclists and is embeded with Jacquard Tag and gesture sensor. The Jacquard Tag activates wireless connectivity between the jacket and mobile device. It is flexible, and has a USB connector, so that it can be charged. The tag is removable, so you can wash the jacket. It also has a snap button with a haptic motor for vibration feedback, and LED lights that glows to notify or help the user when traveling.


The gesture sensor lets the rider interact with smartphone by tapping, swiping or holding on the left cuffs to perform activities like changing music tracks, accepting or declining calls or  accessing navigation information and nearby places that are transmitted via voice.
