LeEco Le 1s vs Lenovo K4 Note: Price, specifications, features compared

LeEco (formerly LeTv) today marked its entry into the Indian market with the launch of two smartphones – Le Max and the Le 1s. Of the two, the Le 1s is the more affordable smartphone with a price tag of Rs 10,999. On paper, the smartphone offers a lot for the relatively low price tag, and it will prove to be a tough competition for the likes of the recently launched Lenovo K4 Note. We pit the two smartphones against each other to see how they fare.
Price: Both the Le 1s and the K4 Note offer a lot for their respective price tags, but at Rs 10,999 the new smartphone is Rs 1,000 cheaper than Lenovo’s smartphone. Both smartphones will be available on e-commerce sites via flash sales. The K4 Note is available on Amazon India, while the Le 1s will be going on sale in February on Flipkart.
Specifications: Both smartphones feature a 5.5-inch display at full HD (1920×1080 pixels) resolution. These displays also compete on their brightness levels with a 450 nits display on the K4 Note, and a 500 nits display on the Le 1s.
Under the hood, LeEco’s smartphone is powered by the latest 2.2GHz MediaTek Helio X10 64-bit octa-core processor, while Lenovo’s smartphone is powered by an older MediaTek MT6753 64-bit octa-core processor. Both processors are paired with 3GB of RAM.
There’s however a big difference on the storage front. The Le 1s comes with 32GB of internal storage but lacks a microSD card slot. On the other hand, the K4 Note comes with 16GB of internal storage but has the advantage of a microSD card slot that can be used to expand the internal memory up to 128GB.
On the photography front, both smartphones feature a combination of 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. That however doesn’t mean that they are equally good, and we will reserve our judgment till we have reviewed both the smartphones. The Le 1s, however, can shoot videos in 4K resolution, while the K4 Note is capped at 1080p.
The K4 Note has a slightly bigger 3,300mAh battery, but the Le 1s is not too behind with a 3,000mAh battery. Furthermore, the battery on the Le 1s also supports fast charging and the company claims that five minutes of charging is good enough for up to 3.5 hours of usage on Super Saver mode.
While the two smartphones come with the usual bevy of connectivity options, the K4 Note supports NFC that is absent on LeEco’s smartphone. The Le 1s however boasts an USB Type-C port, something that is missing on Lenovo’s smartphone.
Both the smartphones feature a fingerprint scanner embedded at the back below the primary camera. In addition to unlocking the device, the scanners also support gestures to perform various functions. The K4 Note also features a pair of stereo speakers with Dolby ATMOS support.
On paper both the LeEco Le 1s and the Lenovo K4 Note are quite closely matched in terms of the specifications and features they offer. The Le 1s has the advantage of a lower price tag, more internal storage, fast charging battery, 4k video recording capabilities and an USB Type-C port, while the K4 Note has the advantage of a microSD card slot, slightly bigger batter and NFC support. It is a very close competition and we will only be able to pass the final judgment when we have reviewed both the smartphones.
