Apple's Boss Tim Cook Accuses Rivals of Making Money off Customer's Data

Apple has always seemed to disapprove the practice of certain companies, which are using customers' data to obtain profits. Once again, the famous company showed its disapproval, through the voice of its CEO, Tim Cook.

Tim Cook actually slammed Facebook and Google for making money using users' personal data. The comments were made by the CEO of Apple during a speech he held on Tuesday night.

"I'm speaking to you from Silicon Valley, where some of the most prominent and successful companies have built their businesses by lulling their customers into complacency about their personal information," Cook said.

The CEO of Apple went on to show his disapproval for such practices. "They're gobbling up everything they can learn about you and trying to monetize it. We think that's wrong," he said during the Electronic Privacy Information Center event, at its Champions of Freedom night. Of course, the star did not directly mention the names of the companies he was referring to, so Facebook or Google were not part of his speech.

"And it's not the kind of company that Apple wants to be," the famous CEO went on to add.

Well, it seems that Tim Cook made these comments now, as Google actually released a new service. Apple's rival launched the Google Photos service, which provides users free unlimited storage for their photos. What is interesting about this service is the fact that there is no specific privacy policy available for Google Photos, at least at the moment.

This means that Google actually directs the users of this service to its global privacy policy, which covers almost all its services. This policy is extremely complex and detailed, so users cannot finally know how and what information is being used.

Well, it seems that Apple wanted to set itself apart from such services, claiming that the famous company actually believes that the customer is the one who should be in control of his own information and the things that are used from what he provides.

Actually, nowadays, security and privacy concerns are starting to be extremely sensitive, while more and more customers become interested in such matters. So, there is no wonder that Apple is addressing them.
