The MacBook Pro of 2015: New CPUs, Faster Memory and Longer Battery Life
Apple announced a new update to its MacBook Pro. Although the 2015 model does not add massive changes, Apple decided to add new Intel CPUs, faster memory and longer battery life on the new device. Moreover, the MacBook Pro comes with new Force Touch trackpad.
What seems to be most criticized about this new device is the design. So, in the past few years Apple has worked to make its devices more impressive in terms of design. This means that they became thinner, lighter and much better in terms of performance, at the same time.
Still, the MacBook Pro lineup always received only minor updates when it comes to technology and almost no updates when referring to design. The device kept the same basic aluminum unibody chassis, looking almost the same as it had for the past few years. This hasn't changed in 2015, either.
Although the 13-inch MacBook Pro can be found in the same design, featuring the same high-resolution Retina Display, the new laptop comes with a very interesting feature, the Force Touch trackpad. Actually, this is Apple's new technology, as the Force Touch Trackpad does not move, but it actually uses electromagnets and haptic feedback to prove the illusion of a traditional touchpad.
The new feature has already been introduced in the 12-inch MacBook and the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina.
Apple fans already appreciate the new technology, which is said to have a series of benefits, enhancing usability. However, there are also some things that users seem to not like when it comes to this new feature. For instance, the Force Touch will not work for everyone. It is not be compatible with Google Docs and cannot work in other browsers, expect for Safari. This means that users won't be able to benefit from its usage with Chrome, for instance.
In terms of performance, the new device packs a new fifth-generation 2.7-GHz Intel Core i5-5257U processor along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of faster flash storage. Another important aspect that Apple seems to have worked on is battery life.
The famous company claims that the battery life of the new device will get up to 10 hours of autonomy when browsing the Web. This is an improvement compared to the previous generation, lasting an hour longer.
Overall, the new 2015 MacBook Pro is an improvement compared to last year's model, bringing better performance, a brighter display, but also faster storage and better battery life.
