Apple Acquires Beats Music and Beats Electronics
Apple has just revealed that they decided to acquire subscription streaming music service, Beats Music and Beasts Electronics.
The company is well-known for creating the popular Beats headphones. It was co-founded by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, who will be joining Apple following the acquisition.
Apple purchased Beats for no less than $3 billion, this actually being the biggest Apple acquisition until now. Initially, it has been claimed that Apple was willing to pay as much as $3.2 billion for this company.
Apple's interest in this service is not shocking at all. In fact, Tim Cook has never tried to hide the fact that Apple will continue to invest in music services. "Music is such an important part of all of our lives and holds a special place within our hearts at Apple," Apple’s CEO said. "
That’s why we have kept investing in music and are bringing together these extraordinary teams so we can continue to create the most innovative music products and services in the world," he added.
On the other hand, it seems that Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine were both happy with this deal with Apple. Jimmy Iovine claimed that he has always thought that Beats Music and Beats Electronics have always belonged with Apple.
Moreover, he added that when they first started the company, they found inspiration in Apple's ability to "marry culture and technology. Apple’s deep commitment to music fans, artists, songwriters and the music industry is something special."
Apple seems to believe that the addition of this company to their business is very important. Apparently, the tech giant hopes that the acquisition of Beats will actually make the music lineup offered by Apple much better, offering more to clients on this segment of the market.
Apple also claimed that Beats has become the brand of choice in music and sports, being now part of the pop culture in the United States.
However, Apple will not be limited to this country, being claimed that the famous company is willing to expand Beats to many other parts of the world, through the Apple online store, as well as the company's stores and authorized resellers.
