Apple to Release New Software Updates for late-2013 iMacs with Bug Fixes

Apple just released a new software update. In fact, at this point the company decided to release two new updates for its late-2013 iMacs. One of the updates released at this point aims to deal with Power Nap, while the other update is focused on OS X 10.8.5 for the Mac desktop.

Naturally, the reason to release both these updates now is to bring certain bug fixes. Apple indicated in its press release notes that this iMac SMC Firmware Update 1.1 is recommended for iMacs, including here the devices that are equipped with flash-only storage.

The company reveals that this new update aims to improve the Power Nap feature. After updating, it will perform silently, without spinning up the fan, as it might have happened until now. Apple also specified that Power Nap adds certain app updates periodically.

They include Mail, Calendar and Contacts updates. The software update is done while the iMac is sleeping. The new update can be found at 921KB and can easily be downloaded by all users.

You may access it through the Apple Support Downloads webpages, but also at Software Update. On the other hand, the iMac 10.8.5 Supplemental Update 1.0 is limited to devices from late-2013, including the iMacs that come with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics cards and running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5.

This update also comes to solve certain issues, issues which may cause external hard drives to be ejected while the computer goes to sleep. However, it has been revealed that this is not the only bug that it tries to fix. Moreover, the update comes to solve issues which seem to prevent USB Bluetooth adapters from working.

This update may also be downloaded by all users of such a device from the Apple website or via the Software Update tool. The update comes at 17.11MB. Apple periodically releases certain updates which come to solve issues that the company’s device might meet.

Consequently, users are asked to make the updates for their devices to function as they should. Sometimes, certain Apple updates regard only specific products, while other times they are meant for a larger category of devices.
